This Black History Month, taking place throughout October, the NUS Scotland Black Students’ Campaign is celebrating black people whose careers and contributions we think need wider recognition and celebration. 

Here you'll find short biographies and images of people of African and Caribbean decent in a range of fields around the world. We’re sharing these stories to promote black people’s diversity, and to highlight black role models - while honouring the contributions they make.  But we always want more! If you’re a Black student and want to highlight someone whose contribution is hardly recognised or underappreciated – get in touch! Feel free to use these profiles in whatever way you like, we recommend printing them of as part of an exhibition around black history. You may also want to post the profiles on social media or create a workshop where students get together and research black contributions in their field of study/interest or in their city or on their campus etc.
