On Tuesday 22 October, independently owned brewers will be using a new ‘Indie Beer’ seal to denote the beers produced by truly independent brewers within the UK.
Consumers and Industry personnel can expect to see the new Indie Beer trademark on cask pump clips, keg lens, can and bottled beers sold in all retailers of British Independent beer. The launch is supported by a consumer app that encourages drinkers to check out what’s IB and what’s not, drinkers can then support local brewers as the craft beer category hots up.
Andy Slee (SIBA CEO) stated: "Our aim is a recognisable standard for high quality independent craft beer, in fact consumer research has shown that a clear distinction of who is truly Independent on the bar is needed at the point of purchase, to ensure drinkers can make an informed choice when selecting beers".
The launch will be supported by national and local media coverage and brewers will be encouraged to use regional and local social media assets to post at launch plus a range of bespoke regional and local POS will be launched.
