From 1 September, PPL will change how fees for Specially Featured Entertainment (SFE) are calculated, meaning SUs would lose the current 15% discount.

However, following more than a year of negotiation and valuable input from many members, we're pleased to confirm that a new five year agreement has been secured. This guarantees a discount for SFE of 20% for the next three years, reducing to 17.5% in 2029 and back to 15% in 2030. While it was not possible to retain the full 20% commission for the entire five year term, we believe this represents the best deal achievable and delivers the strongest possible outcome for members.
The commission (discount) rates for background music, telephone music on hold and other miscellaneous use of recorded music remains at 15% for the whole five year term and for exercise to music classes, the commission (discount) rate remains at 10%.
Securing continued commission for SUs has not been straightforward, so we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this outcome. If you have any questions, please email david@davidnewham.co.uk.
