Big SU Survey: Advice Report

Thursday 11-01-2024 - 11:55

NUS Charity with the help of ACSU (advisors and caseworkers in students' unions) have undertaken research as part of the Big SU Survey on SU advice services. The Big SU Survey: Advice gathered data from 47 students' unions from the 4 nations, with the student population in the institutions ranged from 6,000 - 40,000.

The survey was designed to gather information on how advice services operate in different SUs, what resource they have and the services they provide for their members to allow the sharing of best practice across advice services. The survey also explores some of the findings from advice services from the past year to help identify key themes across the nation.

The survey found that advice services are dealing with more complex issues and that the needs of students presenting to the advice service have become more complex. It also shows that there is a high staff turnover within advice teams with over 70% of respondents saying they've had vacancies in the last year. The survey also explores the varied remit of advice teams and what other information they offer outwith providing advice to students.

To launch the report and explore it's findings and methodology we will be running a webinar on February 1st at 12:00, you can sign up for the webinar here.

You can access the report here.
