Strategic Conversation brings together officers and staff from students’ unions to consider the key strategic issues facing the student movement both locally and nationally.

The event is the combination of two previous events, NUS Services Convention and NUS Strategy and Scrutiny event. 

We have a brought together inspiring and challenging speakers from a variety of backgrounds to help shape our thinking as a movement. 

What to expect

Strategic Conversation brings together officers and staff from students’ unions to consider the key strategic issues facing the student movement both locally and nationally.

The event is the combination of two previous events, NUS Services Convention and NUS Strategy and Scrutiny event.

This event provides opportunitites for the membership to discuss and vote on the commercial and charitable plans for 2016/17, hear from the Project100 team about the progress of the strategic plan, attend insightful and inspirational session with external speakers, and attend a NUS Services members meeting and NUS SU Charitable Services participants meeting.

This event is focused on students’ union CEOs and Presidents staff and officers who want to consider the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of the student movement. Challenge your thinking about the future of your union and challenge us on what we need to be doing to strengthen and support your union organisationally and commercially.

  • Senior staff with responsibility for union development
  • Officers that are interested in participating in the DOBs next year

Why attend?

This event is focused on students’ union CEOs and Presidents staff and officers who want to consider the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of the student movement. We have scheduled the Cooperative Enterprise Units for the Wednesday 4th May with the aim of making them accessible to the widest number of people. For students’ union staff and officers whose primary interest is in attending these there is a day delegate rate available.

Co-opperative Enterprise Units

The meetings of the CEUs will take place on both days of the event. The first session on Day 1 will see presentations and case studies from lead NUS staff and Direction and Oversight Board members on the work completed in 2015/16 and the plans for 2016/17. This will be an interactive session with discussion and questions. Delegates can ask questions and reference back the reports up to 17:00 on day1 using the form in the tabs to the left. 

Day 2 will host a formal session where questions put will be answerd and delegate will be asked to vote on the approval of the plans for 2016/17.
