Become a Board member

The Boards are an important part of the NUS governance processes. Good governance ensures we are running a sound, legal and financially viable organisation. It is important that everyone is engaged in and aware of the governance processes.

The different companies and charities that make up the NUS Group each require a Board of Directors/Trustees. A Board of Directors/Trustees is a body of elected or appointed members who jointly oversee the activities of a company or charity.

In NUS our Boards are made up of a mixture of elected and appointed persons who are students, students’ union officers, NUS Officers, students’ union staff and external people. At NUS we refer to our Directors as Trustees.

Please note there is a high degree of responsibility with the role of a Trustee (for both our company director and charity trustee positions) and you will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement, a contract and declare your interests. The full details are on the role profile.
