Update: 31 March 2020

Our number one priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of the students and apprentices we represent, so we have been working closely with institutions, trade unions, national sector bodies like Universities UK and the Association of Colleges, the Student Loans Company, and the government to inform our response to Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Here’s an update of what we are doing on your behalf to ensure your interests are represented as we tackle this pandemic:

  • We are working with the APPG for Students to co-ordinate cross-party action for student renters and on other issues relating to coronavirus

  • We met the TUC today to discuss campaigns to support students in employment, and are continuing to work on further materials for students’ unions which we hope to launch soon

  • NSoA took part in the TES FE #AskTheFEMinister event. We asked about mental health support for apprentices, money for apprentices under the age of 19 who don’t get sick pay and can’t apply for universal credit, training for furloughed apprentices and making sure listening to apprentices doesn’t stop when the crisis is over.
