Update: 17 April 2020

Our number one priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of the students and apprentices we represent, so we have been working closely with institutions, trade unions, national sector bodies like Universities UK and the Association of Colleges, the Student Loans Company, and the government to inform our response to Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Here’s an update of what we are doing on your behalf to ensure your interests are represented as we tackle this pandemic:

  • Our current and incoming presidents, Zamzam Ibrahim and Larissa Kennedy, met with the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive of the Students Loans Company to receive updates on their efforts to adapt the SLC’s work to the restrictions imposed by coronavirus and to raise issues around early payment of student support, applications for those without access to the internet, adequate information for students and looking after the interests of marginalised students, including disabled students

  • We've met with the trade unions representing nursing and midwifery students to continue our conversations about how we can campaign together on issues relating to their funding and other matters – and hope to say more on this work very soon.
