Events Information

As you are aware events around the country are being cancelled or moved online following the guidance from the Government around travel whilst we try and contain the COVID-19 virus.

 

We have NUS events that are due to take place this year.  Please see an update below.

 

Liberation Conference 2020 - 27th May – 29th May 2020

 

This event will take place online.  Registration is now open for this event.

 

Delegate entitlement for Liberation Conference

 

The NUS UK Liberation Conference has a fixed delegate entitlement for each Union. The

number of delegates you can send is not linked to your student numbers. Each Union

may send a maximum of six delegates. The six delegate spaces are reserved for

delegates who self-define into the groups which are represented at Liberation

Conference. The reserved places are as follows:

•    One Black* Student

•    One additional place for a Black* Woman Student

•    One Trans Student

•    One LGBT+ Student

•    One Disabled Student

•    One Woman Student
 

Your delegation must fill these reserved spaces i.e. if you send a delegation of six, each

of the above spaces must be filled. You could not, for instance, send six delegates that

all only define into one of these reserved spaces.  *the NUS use Black to mean students

from African, Asian, Arab and Caribbean heritage.

 

 

The Commercial Training Day and Trade Show

 

The events will not take place in July 2020.  This has been moved to 15th and 16th September 2020.

 

Lead and Change - 28th – 20th July 2020 & 4th – 6th August 2020

 

These events will take place online.  Registration is now open.

 

We recognise that many of our members are transitioning their officer inductions online.  We will be working with membership to ensure the right content is delivered centrally, co-designed with members.

 

Membership Services Conference – 11th -12th August 2020 - Cancelled

 

We know connectivity between unions is arguably more important now than it ever has been – for mutual support, for sharing learning and ensuring we’re best serving students in these unprecedented times. We also know that there continues to be uncertainty regarding the future in terms of social distancing, when we return to campus and how the unfolding pandemic will continue to impact students, students’ unions, the education sector and society more broadly. Unions are working in very different ways, with very different priorities to usual.

Liverpool Guild of Students and NUS have therefore taken the decision to not hold Membership Services Conference this year.

We will be instead working with relevant communities of practice to ensure a series of networking and learning events online – more details will be released as soon as plans are confirmed but if you have questions or ideas, please contact uniondevelopment@nus.org.uk.

Membership Services Conference 2021 has been scheduled for 10 and 11 August 2021 and will be delivered by Liverpool Guild of Students in partnership with NUS.
