Acas (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service)

Acas aims to improve organisations and working life through better employment relations. Acas provides up-to-date information, independent advice and high quality training, and works with employers and employees to solve problems and improve performance including those related to equality and diversity.

Acas runs an equality and diversity advisory service and provides a range of guidance on equality and diversity.


Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei)

Incorporating the Employers Forum on Age, Employers Forum on Belief and     Employers 4 Fathers, the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (enei) is the UK's leading employer network covering all aspects of equality and inclusion issues in the workplace. 

In addition to supporting employers, enei’s role is to influence Government, business and trade unions through campaigning.

Equality Challenge Unit (ECU)

The ECU works to further and support equality and diversity for staff and students in higher education across all four nations of the UK, and in colleges in Scotland.

ECU provides expertise, research and advice to advance equality and diversity in universities and colleges, promoting good practice case studies, guides and events for the sector as well as charter marks for institutions. For example ECU in partnership with NUS published Inclusive students' unions: equality and diversity in practice.

The Equality and Diversity Forum (EDF) is a national network of equality and human rights organisations. This website brings together a wide range of equality and human rights information and resources provided by EDF and other organisations

Equality and Human Rights Commission

This national watchdog publishes guidance and research on equal rights and implementing your duties under the Equality Act 2010, including FAQ’s and good practice on the nine protected characteristics and on providing fair services as well as fair employment. The Commission has legal powers to investigate complaints and impose sanctions on organisations who breach equality and human rights laws.

Investors in Diversity

The Investors in Diversity Award is recognised quality mark focused on the effective management of equality, diversity and inclusion. It enables organisations to take a structured and planned approach to embedding equality and diversity at the heart of what they do and provides a simple framework in which to do so.

To support students’ unions to improve their equality and diversity practice, NUS has worked in partnership with the National Centre for Diversity and has secured a 10 per cent discount for any union wishing to undertake the Investors in Diversity Accreditation Scheme.
