NUS Purchasing (Trading Support) Direction and Oversight Board

The Direction and Oversight Boards are there to support the decision making of the NUS Services Board in matters of NUS extra, Purchasing,  and Union Cloud within the Students’ Unions.

To guide the meetings of the cooperative enterprise units in encouraging a wide representation, the generation of new ideas, and to consider new initiatives that come from the Cooperative Enterprise Units.

This committee is made up of:

  • 2 student officers, elected by the CEU
  • 3 student union staff, appointed by the Board
  • 2 directors, appointed by the Board
  • 2 external members, recommended by the CEU
  • The Company Chair ex officio

What happens at meetings?

This committee is required to make decisions and recommendations where appropriate and to make recommendations to the Services Board when necessary.

The committee receives information on and scrutinises the product strategy and commercial decision making.

It will consider feedback raised via the Cooperative Enterprise Units and ensure the platform delivers.

The committee receives information and scrutinises areas within purchasing such as tendering, distribution, statistics and programmes.

The deadline for SU Officer applications to this board has now passed. They will reopen again in 2018. The 2017/18 positions on this DOB were filled, elected unopposed on 2 May 2017 were Ellie Keiller from Birmingham Guild and Darren Clarke from Staffordshire
