Welcome to the NUS Connect Housing Campaign Hub! Housing campaigns have been at the heart of the student movement for centuries. When the very first forms of students’ unions appeared in the University of Bologna in the twelfth century, the students were fighting for a reduction in the cost of student accommodation and to end unfair debt recovery practices and students of Cambridge petitioned for the protection of King Henry III in the early thirteenth century to prevent exploitation by local landlords. Things are a lot better than all those years ago, but there is still much to be done!
We have a plethora of research and resources on housing going back many years, but now it is all in one place for you to access. We hope this Hub will equip you with the data, arguments and examples you needed to ensure the student movement continues to win on student housing.
We also hope you will use this hub to keep up to date on NUS’ work on all things housing and find out how you can get involved with our work nationally and how we can support you locally!
