NUS Student Officers, January 2020
The Union of Jewish Students (UJS) presents #WeRemember; a project to raise awareness for Holocaust Memorial Day and ensure that people have the opportunity to hear as many survivors' testimonies as they can. As this year is the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz and Bergen Belson, it is vital Survivors have their voices heard.
The #WeRemember project will also feature powerful videos online, that touches on key facts that people have heard, but never understood the personal experiences that go with it. These videos have the purpose of educating the public, and we believe these personal testimonies on these topics are key to that.
As this year commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz and Bergen Belson, we should mark this year by showing our commitment to remembering the Holocaust, and the importance of standing up against racism and prejudice. We would like to emphasise in this that Holocaust Education is not just one day of the year but should be commemorated all year round.
Why not join us? Share photos of your activities by using the hashtag #WeRemember on Twitter to demonstrate the collective effort of the student world, showing the collective importance of commemorating the Holocaust.
