The Deadline to apply to become a Lead and Change course trainer is just around the corner. Here we give you five reasons why you should be involved and share your wisdom with the next cohort of student leaders.
We're looking for Lead and Change tutors from the student movement to make this summer's training courses the best ever!
Our tutors are staff from students' unions and NUS who deliver training content to around 12-15 sabbatical officers at the event. We're looking for ten volunteers from students' unions to tutor on Lead and Change and be part of the first weeks of the journey of sabbatical officers.
In 2016 we had over 75 applications and we’re really looking forward to seeing who can help us with future events.
We encourage applications from students' union staff members who self-define into a liberation group to ensure that our tutor team at Lead and Change is as diverse as possible.
As an added incentive for those asked to tutor on Lead and Change, we will be providing one heavily discounted place of £49 + VAT for a delegate from your students' union.
5 Reasons to be a Lead and Change trainer
Lead and Change can offer an exciting development opportunity for someone who is an experienced trainer looking for experience in delivering an intensive three-day training programme. The course will be able to offer you a chance to train officers from multiple unions about their role as a Student Officer.
For three days you will be surrounded by officers who will be sharing ideas within your training group. These ideas can often be a breath of fresh air for you and you can always take something innovative back to your union! You will also deliver training activities and techniques that will give you new ideas for training methods.
There are up to 100 officers on each Lead and Change course, plus NUS Staff and officers at each event. Use this chance to network with people you will have never have met before and be part of the support network you create at Lead and Change.
Training on an intensive course can be physically tiring, but also you may be challenged in ways as a trainer that you haven’t been before. Our topics within training are created to challenge officers which can often bring out interesting discussion something that you will be encouraged to facilitate. However you will be supported by a whole team of staff from NUS at each event, and of course, supported by your training group!
Lead and Change is a fun, fast-paced, intensive and supportive environment that can provide you with a week of lasting memories! Taking part will provide you with invaluable experience and feeling like you have really had an impact in shaping officers across the UK to be effective leaders.

Additional information: Tutors will need to be available for a briefing day in the NUS London office on either the 25 or 26 June (those tutoring on the first year course).
Tutors from students’ unions will receive one place for an officer from their union at the reduced cost of £49 + VAT.
