Governing during the Pandemic

Further to the webinar on the 17th November, NUS has curated some helpful resources to support trustees and their senior members of staff in SUs while governing in such unprecedented times. There have been many difficult circumstances and decisions to make so far, and doubtless there will be more to come, but there is a huge amount of support and guidance available.

**There will be a Governance workshop with the lawyers BWB at Stragetic Conversation, Friday 11th December 10:15-11:15. Register free now!**

NCVO kindly collaborated with NUS to present a webinar on the topic, and answered questions from SUs as part of Trustees Week 2020:

Back to basics – how to get a handle on your governance

SU Governance Code

The SU Governance Code is the official adaptation of the Charity Governance Code specifically for the governance of students’ unions,  and was created by trustees, students, SU staff and wider charity sector experts. Also available yn Gymraeg

NUS Governance Peer Review Scheme

The governance peer review scheme has now been adapted for pure online delivery. With a peer review, you can have an external, trained member from the movement support your board to reflect on where you are now, and to create a tailored action plan for your governance, based on the principles of the SU Governance Code. And best of all – it’s totally free!

Governance Community of Practice: Facebook Workplace

A place for anyone involved in governance in SUs to network, ask questions and get involved in the national picture.

Charity Commission, The Essential Trustee

The basic trustee rights and responsibilities from the Charity Commission - essential reading for any new trustee.

Reviewing your own performance as a trustee is so important to ensure the good governance of your organisation.
