Richard Brooks elected as NUS Vice President (Union Development)

Richard Brooks has been elected as NUS Vice President (Union Development) at National Conference 2015.

Addressing delegates on conference floor, Richard used his election speech to share his experiences of being the first person in his family to attend university, whilst citing that ‘joining societies was a way in’ for him personally.

Brooks went on to outline the need for further support for international students, residents and students travelling long distances to get to their courses, before concluding that ‘we need to be big and we need to be ambitious’ and that ‘we should be the voice for seven million students’.

Richard Brooks was elected NUS Vice President (Union Development), with the vote count being:

424 – Richard Brooks
312 – Abdi-Aziz Suleiman
8 – RON (Re-open nominations)
