NUS Wales President elected onto ESU Executive Council

We are delighted to announce that Beth Button, current President of NUS Wales, has been elected onto the European Students’ Union’s (ESU) Executive Council.

ESU is the umbrella organisation of 45 National Unions of Students from 38 countries.

Delegates from each member country have come together in Bergen, Norway this week (Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 May) for ESUs 70th Board Meeting.

The Board Meeting is ESUs highest governing body, which meets twice a year and elects ESUs leadership for a one year mandate, where each member country is given two votes.

NUS Wales President Beth Button was elected onto ESUs Executive Committee, which consists of one Chairperson, two Vice-Chairpersons (together called 'The Presidency') and seven general members.

Following her election onto the Executive Council, Beth said: “As students across Europe face collective and shared struggles, with attacks on our education system and crises in funding, now more than ever we need to be united in fighting for the education system and more importantly society we want to see- and I'm so excited to have the opportunity to be part of leading this fight through ESU next year.”
