NUS Scotland 2017-18: Review of the Year

Thursday 05-07-2018 - 14:12

It’s been a very busy year at NUS Scotland. Nationally, we engaged successfully in the Independent Review of Student Support, and our campaigning activity led to new investment of £21 million in student support for the poorest students. We campaigned to secure funding to support colleges and universities in their efforts to tackle gender based violence, and ensured that colleges are instructed to prioritise pastoral care when dealing with attendance issues. We also succeeded in having mental health support included in the Scottish Government’s Letter of Guidance to institutions for the first time, as well as supporting a record number of institutions to engage in our mental health projects and securing funding to continue these projects.
At a membership level, we’ve empowered students’ associations across the country providing training, networking opportunities, events and democratic support to help our members strengthen and grow.
As we say goodbye to Luke and Jodie, and welcome back Shuwanna and our new officers Liam and Gemma, take a look back at everything we’ve achieved together over the last year.
