NUS Connect Joins UnionCloud

Tuesday 04-11-2014 - 00:00

Raechel Mattey, NUS Vice President (Union Development) today introduced the launch of the new NUS Connect website on NUS’ own UnionCloud system as a step towards creating a “better connection with its own members”.

Unveiling the website for the first time to delegates at the opening day of NUS Zone Conference in Harrograte, Raechel Mattey welcomed the move to UnionCloud and noted that the new features already implemented on the new NUS Connect would help officers and staff to “engage with the site on a much greater level”.

Doug Tomlinson, Director of New Media said the new NUS Connect will be “driven around innovative digital tools to allow our members to interact more effectively with one and other at a local level”.

UnionCloud, a membership management suite built into the NUS Digital platform, will allow NUS Connect to provide a better central hub for officers and staff to access resources and documents which will help them to build stronger students’ unions, engage with campaigns and events and ultimately shape the NUS’ current and future work.

The new NUS Connect at a glance:

  • Improved navigation - following research and usability testing, the new website boasts simpler navigation split into six core sections, meaning users will be able to find what they are looking for with greater ease.
  • Putting democracy front and centre – the new Shape Our Work section will bring important information about NUS such as the policy process, structure, what happens at NEC, election results and governance to the forefront of the website.
  • Enhanced editorial – the new News section will host articles written by the NUS and other members within the student movement as well as guest columns from external experts and a greater pool of video content to demonstrate the work of NUS in a new and exciting way.
  • Ongoing feedback - the new NUS Connect website is currently in BETA phase of development, and will be fully launched in July 2015. During this period of transition, NUS welcomes your feedback on how the website can be improved and made more effective. Certain features of the website will also still be hosted on the old platform before the full launch, this is explained here.
