The National Ballot has now been counted. The question posed was 'Should NUS conduct and publish a risk assessment and equality impact assessment before finalising the NSS boycott / sabotage action?' and the result of the Ballot was Yes
The National Ballot closed on 9th December. There were 43 valid responses to the National Ballot.
32 Constituent Members, representing 502299, voted YES (68%)
11 Constitent Members, representing 233536, voted NO (32%)
There were six submissions which were ruled out by the Returning Officer as they were submitted after the deadline of 12 noon on 8 December 2016. One submission was ruled out as it was a duplicate entry.
As per the rules of the National Ballot, the result is calculated based on data NUS uses to calculate each union’s full time equivalent (FTE) student numbers.
For universities these numbers are usually taken from HESA data (Higher Education Statistics Agency) which is the most up to date data available to the HE sector. For colleges, the numbers are provided to us by members which is cross checked against publicly available data, from the SFA (Skills Funding Agency).
