On Saturday 8 November, self-defining disabled students from across Scotland met for NUS Scotland Disabled Students' Extraordinary Conference.

Disabled Students Conference

The conference was held to elect NUS Scotland Disabled Students' Officer for the remainder of the year, following the decision of delegates earlier in the year to re-open nominations for this role.

Two candidates stood for the position, with delegates having the option to also re-open nominations. Genna Clarke, a student officer at the University of Aberdeen, ran against Heather Armstrong, student at the University of the West of Scotland for the role.

Heather Armstrong received the most votes and was duly elected as NUS Scotland Disabled Students' Officer.

Heather will lead the work of NUS Scotland Disabled Students' campaign together with student volunteers on the committee.
