Elected officers from Falmouth and Exeter Students' Union have won the Officer Team Award at this year’s NUS Awards with Edinburgh University Students' Union’s officer team named runners-up.
What the judges said:
“Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union officer have worked incredibly hard this year, ensured their decisions and actions are based on what is best for students and FXU, even if this has gone against their own personal values. They have worked tirelessly and have delivered some impressive successes to improve the student experience on our campuses.”
Alexa Webster, Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union president of community and welfare, said:
“This award means so much to us. We’ve worked so hard this year and these are not just people who work together, these are genuinely my best friends. We’re the only students’ union in the country that represents two universities, it’s been a tough year and it just means so much. We’re all a bit happy, excited and in shock at the moment.”
Richard Brooks, NUS vice president for union development, said:
"I’m delighted to announce Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union has won the Officer Team Award at the 2016 NUS Awards. The awards are about celebrating excellence across the activities of students' unions. Students' unions make a real difference to the lives of students and the communities around them. I hope the awards show how important their work is and inspire more students to get involved. The unions that have won awards have done fantastic work over the year and should be really proud of their efforts to enhance the student experience and make our society a better place.”
