Two of the commercial sponsors for Strategic Conversation will be running workshops focussing on current student trends and the opportunities open to unions.
Strategic Conversation is one of the key membership events in the NUS calendar and will see leaders of the student movement come together in Sheffield from Tuesday 10 – Wednesday 11 February to discuss the key challenges that lie ahead and develop strategies to solve them.
Across the two-day event, chief commercial sponsors Carlsberg and Maxximum will deliver sessions and workshops focussing on the latest trends in student consumption and opportunities for unions to showcase their venues as valid competitors to the high street.
On the first evening, Carlsberg will invite delegates to tap into their barrels and taste a selection of craft and speciality beers from their new ‘Crafted’ portfolio shortly before dinner. The following day will also see Carlsberg and Maxximum host two workshops; ‘Raising The Bar’ and ‘Cocktail Safari’, respectfully.
Raising the bar – Key trends, Wine & World Beer
Matthew Brand, Head of Insight for Carlsberg UK will begin this three-part session by taking attendees through current and future trends along with competitor information sharing. With the current opportunity in wine for the student sector, Carlsberg’s wine expert, Jacob Radcliffe will also look at how unions can create the best range for their bars before beer expert Jon Porter, will take you through world and craft beers.
Maxximum and Bols will run this interactive session allowing delegates to get hands on in recreating some of the iconic drinks from the world’s best bars and stuck in to some of the global cocktail trends. The session will explore how to make drinks inspirational and how bars can add value to a drinks offering by encouraging their staff to take pride in their work.
Whether you’re a CEO, Commercial Director/ Manager, General Manager or anyone else involved in the running of your unions bar or venue, these workshops are not to be missed.
