Candidates for NUS Vice President (Further Education) announced

The period of nominations for the position of NUS Vice President (Further Education) has closed and we can now announce the candidates standing for election.

The candidates for the position of Vice President (Further Education), who will be elected during NUS National Conference, are as follows:

Craig Clements

I'm Craig Clements of Leeds City College SU and I am MASSIVELY dedicated to FE. Terms of Office, 5 in FE, 1 in HE and, 2 NUS. A lot of experience! Our Union has gone from stand still to highly active, from 1 full time sabbatical then 2 with now 4 Full time Sabbaticals which are Self funded. I will Convince the Government to invest in unions and fight for free education. I have dedicated and sacrificed myself to FE like many of you. I will not give in! Just wait until conference and see what I am about.

Shakira Martin
Free Education, Further Education For Everyone

Hello, My name is Shakira Martin and I am the President of Lewisham Southwark College. Since getting involved in NUS I have been elected to a number of committees including, Women, Black students, National Executive Council (NEC), FE and Society and Citizenship Zone. Over this time I have learnt so much and have been inspired, empowered and motivated to take the next step in becoming NUS Vice President for further education. Further education and overcoming adversity has led me to where I am today and that will all my experiences, passion and determination I lead this ongoing FE Battle!

The position of Vice President (Further Education) will be elected by delegates during the second day of NUS National Conference, which takes place at the Liverpool ACC from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 April 2015.
