Candidates for NUS National President

Wednesday 24-02-2016 - 16:05

The period of nominations for the position of NUS National President has closed and we can now announce the candidates standing for election.

The candidates for the position of National President, who will be elected during NUS NUS National Conference, are as follows:

Malia Bouattia
Malia for a Strong, Transformative NUS

My name is Malia Bouattia. I am the current NUS Black Student Officer and I am standing to be your next national President. Our education should be a right. It should be transformative and accessible, whenever and wherever it suits us in life. We need an educational system that works for everyone. Support me and I will build a stronger national union ready to lead the way in the fight for the education we all need and deserve.

Megan Dunn

This year I've worked tirelessly to put Students’ Unions back where they belong, at the heart of NUS and I couldn’t be prouder of what we've achieved together.

But there's so much more to do. For the first time in over 20 years, the future of Students’ Unions is under threat.

We have to build a movement that can stand up to these challenges and win these arguments. We have to build a movement that wins.

It's been a privilege to work for you this year and I'm so excited to be standing for re-election as NUS President.

Action, Reaction and Student Satisfaction

Not bound by any party or faction, I remain loyal only to those who I would represent. That’s not just the students’ unions across the country, but to the millions of students who are by extension a part of the NUS. The NUS should become the household name it used to be – active and influential to the regular students and public through campaigns we care about. I am not one to be spoiled by the current status quo and I want what all students want. An NUS that follows through and is led by one of its own.
