Beyond the Campus

Beyond the Campus

Sunday 28 October 2012 11:30 - Monday 29 October 2012 13:30
The Palace Hotel, Manchester

To be a student, you must first be a citizen of society. This is the essence of the Society and Citizenship Zone and what this conference intends to explore; what role do students have beyond the gates of their educational institution? How are students influenced by society, and how can they actively shape it?

Over these two days delegates will have the opportunity to consider a range of social justice issues within their communities, the nation as a whole, as well as globally. Workshops will cover the breadth of the Zone’s activities, across the themes of Citizenship, Employment, Environment & Ethics and Global Solidarity.

The programme appeals to the activist roots of the zone and will include practical campaigns components, equipping activists with the skills and strategy to effectively take action on their own campuses and beyond. You’ll hear from partner organisations sharing their expertise and SU’s who’ll be explaining the secrets to their successful Soc & Cit campaigns.
