LUU and Leeds University
Students’ Unions 2011 is being hosted by Leeds University Union and Leeds University. The event will take place on their shared campus about a ten-minute walk away from Leeds city centre. It is an eclectic mix of the old and the new reflecting its 100 years history. Brand new buildings and state-of-the-art facilities co-exist with impressive older landmark buildings.
Everything you are likely to need is on campus, with the added benefit of the bustling city a stone's throw away.
Leeds is the 'capital' of the Yorkshire and Humber region and a renowned centre for shopping, arts, sport, leisure, entertainment and nightlife.
It has everything you would expect from a major city and is surrounded by beautiful, accessible countryside and many places of interest.
There are a range of shops, bars and clubs on campus.
Delegates will also have the benefit of access to Leeds Universities state of the art sports facilities at the Edge.
All delegates have free access to the gym, pool and other facilities at the Edge which include:
- Leeds' largest indoor sports halls with performance sports floors and lighting;
- a fantastic 25m 8 lane swimming pool;
- the largest fitness suite of any UK university with state-of-the-art equipment;
- a performance strength and conditioning facility.

Delegates will be accommodated within Charles Morris Halls with are situated in the heart of the campus.
This accommodation comprises of the brand new Storm Jameson Court complex, providing the latest in home comforts, and the newly refurbished Dobree and Whetton House.
There's also a new common room with pool tables, table football, flat screen TV and comfy chairs. Take a virtual tour of the accommodation.
Walking from the train station to the LUU
The University campus is a pleasant 20 minute walk from Leeds city station. Just follow the directions here and you'll be with us in no time at all: Come out of the station into City square; with the Queens Hotel behind you, walk straight up Park Row.
Continue up Park Row until the first major junction. Cross straight over The Headrow and continue up Cookridge Street.
At the next set of lights go straight on passing Millennium Square on your left and Leeds City Museum on your right.
Turn left on to Woodhouse Lane, a busy main road. You'll pass Leeds Metropolitan University on your left and our University campus begins in another 50 metres or so, on your left.
To reach the Parkinson building, carry on up Woodhouse Lane to the clocktower building. You'll be able to look at a map of campus there and plan where to go next.

To get the exact bus times enter the postcode from the train station LS1 4DY to LS1 1UH.
Although we advise all delegates to travel by public transport we do appreciate that some people may wish to travel by car.
There is limited parking on campus and must be booked 5 working days in advance of your arrival.
Parking is charged at £5 per vehicle per day and needs to be paid at the security office on arrival.
