Background:


In April 2016, National Conference voted for a vision of a new NUS democracy. This vision was made up of 12 principles including four from the Quality Students' Unions framework: Inclusiveness, Transparency, Considered Judgement, Popular Control.

A report outlining proposals for changes to our democracy and governance, developed with the support of the Centre for the Study of Democracy, has been published here.

The Task and Finish Group will meet on 31 January to shape the final proposal that will be submitted to National Conference. In order to inform this meeting, space has been made below where you can answer three questions regarding each proposal in the report.

Our elected full-time officers are all committed to bringing forward a proposal to National Conference 2017. Check out what some officers think in the video below and let us know your thoughts by responding to the consultation above.

Here were some of our officers' initial ideas for reform:
