Welcome to the results from the first NUS Governance Survey.
The past few years have seen some of the most dramatic organisational change in the history of students’ unions. Registering with the Charity Commission has pushed unions to better focus their activities on delivering against their aims, develop strong trustee boards with the correct skills set to manage the key facets of running a union and all the while maintain the student led nature of our unique organisations.
This survey gives us a snapshot of some of the structural elements of students’ union governance. Of course the real interest in any survey results come in the comparison as we build a picture year on year, but hopefully this is a useful insight into the nature of SU governance in 2012.
