New guidance from NUS on the data protection law and how to obtain the contact details of students from your university is now available.
Responding to demand from unions NUS has produced this guidance in conjunction with Bates, Wells and Braithwaite to make sure that students’ unions can access the information of its members. It looks at how students’ personal data can be shared between universities and students’ unions in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Included in the guidance is a template letter to send to your institution requesting the information.
If you have any questions about this contact Ed Marsh or Ben Ward.
The presentation given by Maeriad O’Reilly from Bates, Wells and Braithwaite on data protection at Students' Unions 2011 is available here.
