Cymru’n Arwain mewn partneriaeth Myfyrwyr Ond Mae yno Beryglion o Gamau tuag yn Ôl Parthed Ag AB

Mae’r cynnydd a wnaed gan UCM Cymru mewn gosod myfyrwyr wrth galon y broses llunio penderfyniadau mewn prifysgolion wedi cael ei amlygu mewn cynhadledd genedlaethol.

Bu Luke Young, Llywydd UCMC, yn siaradwr allweddol yng nghynhadledd Gweithwyr mewn Democratiaeth a Chynrychiolaeth yng Ngholeg Prifysgol Llundain.

Yn ei anerchiad, rhoddodd ganmoliaeth i’r berthynas sy’n datblygu rhwng prifysgolion â’u cyrff myfyrwyr, gan ddwyn sylw at y pwyslais a roddir ar gydnabod myfyrwyr fel partneriaid yn hytrach na defnyddwyr o fewn i’r system addysg.

Serch hynny, daeth y ganmoliaeth o ran Addysg Uwch gyda rhybudd clir ynglyn â rôl myfyrwyr yng ngholegau addysg bellach Cymru. Rhybuddiodd Llywydd UCMC yn erbyn unrhyw gamau tuag at ddiddymu cynrychiolaeth myfyrwyr o’r cyrff llunio penderfyniadau uchaf mewn addysg bellach.

Mae Adroddiad Humphreys ar Lywodraethu mewn Addysg Bellach yn awgrymu creu model newydd a fyddai’n dileu unrhyw leoedd wedi eu neilltuo ar gyfer myfyrwyr ar y cyrff llywodraethu mewn sefydliadau addysg bellach. Cred UCMC y byddai hwn yn gam tuag yn ôl, gan niweidio’r gwaith cadarnhaol sydd wedi cael ei wneud i ddatblygu ymgysylltiad myfyrwyr yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf.

Mae’r argymhellion ar hyn o bryd gyda’r Gweinidog Addysg i’w cymeradwyo.

Dywedodd Llywydd UCM Cymru Luke Young:

"Mae Cymru’n arwain y ffordd mewn creu partneriaeth newydd rhwng corff y myfyrwyr a’r sefydliad. Tra bod yno’n dal i fod gryn ffordd i fynd, ‘rydym yn gweld mwy o fyfyrwyr yn cymryd rhan mewn gouchwylio eu hamgylchedd dysgu a’r brifysgol. Mae yno gyfle gwirioneddol i lunio addysg uwch yng Nghymru mewn ffordd sy’n gwrthod y patrwm sy’n seiliedig ar farchnad sy’n cael ei orfodi yn Lloegr ar hyn o bryd, gan lunio cymuned ddysgu flaengar.

Serch hynny, ni dylem gwympo’n ôl mewn addysg bellach. Mae’n hanfodol bwysig fod myfyrwyr yn parhau i gyfranogi ar y lefel uchaf ar gyrff llywodraethu o fewn i golegau AB. ‘Rydym yn bendant fod Llais Myfyrwyr yr un mor bwysig mewn addysg bellach ag mewn addysg uwch. Ni all fod yno unrhyw gyfiawnhad dros ddiddymu hawl myfyrwyr i gyfranogi ar y lefel uchaf.”
