UCM Cymru yn galw ar wleidyddion i gefnogi ymgyrch “Mynediad i Bobman”

Mae Undeb Cenedlaethol Myfyrwyr Cymru wedi gwahodd yr holl ymgeiswyr ar gyfer etholiad Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru i siarad allan o blaid amddiffyn cynhaliaeth i fyfyrwyr a chefnogi ein hymgyrch ‘Mynediad i Bobman’

Yn ystod yr wythos sy’n arwain i fyny at yr etholiad, bydd UCMC yn cysylltu â myfyrwyr, eu teuluoedd ac aelodau o’r cyhoedd i’w hysbysu ynglyn â pha ymgeiswyr sydd wedi cytuno i gefnogi’r ymgyrch.

Nod ymgyrch ‘Mynediad i Bobman’ yw codi ymwybyddiaeth ynglyn â phwysigrwydd gwasanaethau cynhaliaeth a chefnogaeth i fyfyrwyr, sy’n aml yn sicrhau y gallant gael mynediad a pharhau mewn addysg bellach ac uwch.  Mae’r toriadau diweddar mewn gwariant cyhoeddus wedi golygu fod y llywodraeth a sefydliadau wedi torri cyllidebau cynhaliaeth i fyfyrwyr ar lefel leol a chenedlaethol, gan arwain at lai o gymorth ariannol a chau i lawr gwasanaethau hanfodol megis cyngor i fyfyrwyr a meithrinfeydd.

Llynedd, torwyd 60% o’r Gronfa Arian Wrth Gefn, sy’n darparu cymorth i fyfyrwyr addysg uwch sy’n wynebu caledi ariannol.  Dair blynedd yn ôl, ‘roedd Charlotte Britton, myfyrwraig yn Abertawe, yn ei chael yn anodd talu ei rhent, ond fe’i cyfeiriwyd hi at Gronfa Arian Wrth Gefn ei phrifysgol.  Dywedodd:

“Roeddwn mewn trafferthion ariannol a nid oeddwn yn gallu talu’r rhent.  Helpodd y Gronfa Arian Wrth Gefn i mi dalu mis olaf fy rhent a rhai biliau, oedd yn caniatáu i mi aros ymlaen yn y brifysgol ar gyfer fy nhrydedd blwyddyn.  ‘Roedd hyn yng nghanol cyfnod arholiadau, felly heb y cymorth a’r cyngor yma, nid yn unig y byddai’r pwysedd ariannol wedi effiethio ar fy marciau, mae’n debygol y buaswn i wedi gwneud rhai dewisiadau annoeth iawn; ‘roeddwn i wedi bod yn ystyried cardiau credyd llog-uchel a benthyciadau llog-uchel cyn i mi glywed am y GAWG.”

“Euthum ymlaen i ennill gradd dosbarth cyntaf yn fy mhwnc, ac ‘rwyf nawr yn astudio ar gyfer gradd meistr – yn y bon, fe arbedodd cynhaliaeth i fyfyrwyr fy ngradd!”

Mae pecynnau cynhaliaeth i fyfyrwyr eraill megis y Lwfans Cynhaliaeth Addysg a Grant Dysgu’r Cynulliad hefyd yn cynnig cefnogaeth i’r myfyrwyr tlotaf mewn addysg bellach ac uwch.  Mae UCMC nawr yn galw ar ymgeiswyr ar gyfer y Cynulliad i arwyddo i fyny i’r ymgyrch a chytuno i amddiffyn y lefelau presennol o gyllido ar gyfer y meysydd cynhaliaeth hyn gydol tymor nesaf y Cynulliad.

Anfonodd Katie Dalton e-gerdyn at dros 200 o ymgeiswyr yn eu gwahodd i gefnogi ymgyrch ‘Mynediad i Bobman’ ac mae’n teimlo’n bositif ynglyn â’r ymateb hyd yma:

“Funudau’n unig ar ôl anfon yr e-gerdyn, derbyniwyd nifer o ymatebion oddi wrth ymgeiswyr ledled Cymru, sy’n awyddus i amddiffyn mynediad a chefnogi’r tlotaf o fewn i gymdeithas.  Edrychwn ymlaen i hysbysu pleidleiswyr ynglyn â pha ymgeiswyr sy’n cefnogi ein hymgyrch.”
