UCL Union has presented a paper tothe Head of its Graduate School on improving postgraduate research supervision feedback.
The paper gives a number of examples of good practice in making arguments for change, and will be useful to any other union considering making arguments on research supervision.
Good practice includes:
- provision of supporting evidence drawn from survey data and case studies
- examples of practice from other institutions
- clearly setting out the arguments, with detailed suggestions for improvements
- a clear statement of what the union hopes to achieve from presenting the paper
As a result, along with a paper from a professor, UCL Research Degrees Committee have agreed to convene a working group on the issue.
