Open Your Mind, a partnership project between NUS-USI and MindWise, has been awarded the Investing in Volunteer Award. The achievement was celebrated at an event today at Belfast City Hall where Elaine Kelly, Project Co-ordinator was presented with the award by Will Haire, Permanent Secretary of the Department of Social Development.
The project which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund works with volunteers in colleges across Northern Ireland to raise awareness of mental health across the student population.
The President of NUS-USI, Adrianne Peltz, stated;
“We, at NUS-USI, are immensely proud of the Open Your Mind project and are delighted that it has so justifiably received this prestigious award thanks to the dedication of everyone involved.”
Anne Doherty, Deputy Chief Executive, MindWise believes that;
“The project’s determination to engage and actively support the student population is realized through actively investing in volunteering and as such the reach of the project is extensive throughout Northern Ireland.”
