NUS responds to UK Border Agency Tier 4 consultation
The UK Border Agency consultation on student visas closed yesterday. NUS has been working to seek the views of member unions and international students on the proposals.
Our response to UKBA highlights the economic and cultural value of international students to UK education. We argue that the proposed measures, which include restrictions on English language requirements, the rights of dependants and the rights of international students to work during and after study, target legitimate students unnecessarily and would damage the international reputation of the UK.
We also included the results of a survey of international student views on the post-study work route. A briefing on the survey results will be available shortly.
