Managing projects and new initiatives effectively

To support the development and training of staff and officers in students’ unions, Endsleigh has introduced a series of ‘How to’ Guides or kits which can be used by you (staff and Officers) and your union.

The guides have been produced as video interviews and made available to all unions. Each guide is supported by training manuals and, where applicable, re-usable templates to help guide staff and officers through the areas they wish to gain some insight into.

This guide is written by a Project Manager with more than 15 years’ practical experience running varied and challenging projects in a commercial environment.

Whenever you are planning anything, from a marketing campaign to a freshers fayre, a society event to a major refurbishment on campus, or you simply want to implement your ideas and initiatives more successfully, the principles you will find in this guide will help you to get started effectively, stay on track and achieve the results you want.

We recognise that all students’ unions are different, so we have written the guide in a way which will allow you to apply the principles or tailor them to match your size and your circumstances. You don’t need to be a qualified Project Manager to be responsible for managing a new initiative.

We are not aiming to teach you any particular method of project management, although Endsleigh project managers are PRINCE2® qualified and you may recognise some of the terminology from that method.

We hope you find this guide useful and informative.
