In June 2010, Sussex launched the report of their Rate Your Landlord survey.
This year’s 'Rate Your Landlord’ survey has improved upon the previous year’s survey to include University managed accommodation and to differentiate results between landlords and letting agents.
Students were overall satisfied with University managed accommodation, with no major areas of concern highlighted. The findings for the private rented sector show dissatisfaction with he quality of service provided.
Students believe they receive better value for money when renting through a landlord as opposed to a letting agency. Students were more positive about their experiences with independent landlords than letting agents.
The findings in this report highlight the challenges we will face in the future in light of an absense of regulation in the PRS and of letting agencies in particular.
