EngageMonth 2012 Week One - Students & Quality

EngageMonth 2012 is here!

Welcome to EngageMonth 2012; a whole month dedicated to focusing on student engagement and how it can be developed, extended and improved throughout the sector.

EngageMonth hopes to highlight some of the challenges and solutions to student engagement and support students' unions with investigating student engagement in their own institutions and colleges.

During EngageMonth NUS will be providing students’ unions with resources, information and support around four key strands of student engagement;

  1. Students & Quality
  2. Teaching & Learning
  3. Representation
  4. Holistic engagement.

In addition, there is also a series of awards such as the Innovative Engagement Award, and a self-evaluation form to enable students’ unions to identify their individual priority areas, plan activities around these, and then self-evaluate the success of these activities. To be considered for an award, please complete the self-evaluation form and return it to student.engagement@nus.org.uk.

Students & Quality: Week One 30th Jan - 3rd Feb

The first week of EngageMonth is all about enaging students in quality assurance processes. Take a look at the overview brefing for the week which details what to expect.

Over the last 5 years, there has been a noticeable increase of students’ unions focusing on the quality of the academic provision within their institution. Student representation models have been developed and we are seeing more and more involvement from students and course reps in quality assurance and enhancement processes. Ensuring students are involved in quality assurance and enhancement is a vital step in promoting partnership between student and institution.
