Don't let 2011/12 students become the "forgotten generation"
NUS responded to the HEFCE consultation about funding teaching and student number controls for 2012/13 calling for Government to ensure that students entering higher education this year don't become the "forgotten generation" with ever decreasing amounts spent on their experience. NUS also called on OFFA to monitor the impact of the AAB+ policy access and for OFFA to be given "sufficient regulatory power" if students from certain backgrounds are disproportionally affected.
NUS also called for continued funding to spent on widening participation beyond 2013 and went on to highlight the unintended consequences that the policy could have on collaborative partnerships between HE and FE providers.
