*DIWEDDARIAD* Pryder am fyfyrwyr Lefel-A wrth i ddiweithdra ymhlith bobl ifanc

Mae canlyniadau Lefel-A yn cael eu rhyddhau heddiw yng Nghymru yn erbyn cefndir o ffigurau diwethdra newydd sy’n dangos fod 1 o bob 5 o bobl rhwng 16 a 25 oed yn ddi-waith.

Mae ceisiadau ar gyfer y system glirio yng Nghymru yn uwch nag yng ngweddill y DU, er fod y nifer o leoedd wedi cael eu capio.

Mae’r nifer sy’n ymgeisio am le mewn prifysgol wedi cyrraedd lefel uwch nag erioed o’r blaen, sef 669,956, wrth i ymgeiswyr geisio guro’r cynnydd mewn ffioedd o hyd at £9,000 y flwyddyn, sy’n dod ym Medi 2012.

Mae’n debygol y bydd canlyniadau Lefel-A heddiw yn golygu y bydd tua 250,000 o bobl yn ymgeisio am ychydig dros 40,000 o leoedd drwy’r system glirio, sy’n golygu y gallai cymaint â 210,000 golli allan.

Bydd llawer o fyfyrwyr Lefel-A yn wynebu’r dewis anodd o geisio canfod swyddi sy’n brin iawn, gwirfoddoli mewn swyddi di-gyflog, cymryd blwyddyn allan neu geisio lle mewn prifysgiolion dramor.

Mewn ymateb i’r newyddion yma, dywedodd Llywydd UCM Cymru, Luke Young:

"Mae’r canlyniadau eleni unwaith eto’n gyfle i ddathlu cyraeddiadau’r dysgwyr dawnus sydd gennym yma yng Nghymru. Dylem yn gyntaf eu llongyfarch ar yr hyn maent wedi ei gyflawni.
Mae hefyd angen i ni ystyried y miloedd o ddysgwyr, gyda chanlyniadau lefel A da, a fydd yn ei chael yn anodd canfod lle mewn prifysgol eleni. Mae’n bwysig sicrhau fod pawb yn cael y cyfle gorau i fynd i mewn i addysg, cyflogaeth neu hyfforddiant.

Dylai’r wythnos hon fod ynglyn â sicrhau fod myfyrwyr yn derbyn cyngor clir a chywir i’w cynorthwyo i wneud y penderfyniad iawn ar gyfer eu dyfodol. Mae angen cefnogaeth ddigonol i sicrhau nad oes unrhyw un yn colli allan. "

*DIWEDDARIAD* (13.30pm)

Wrth ymateb i'r newyddion fod y graddau uchaf yng nganlyniadau Lefel-A Cymru wedi disgyn o gymharu â llynedd, dywedodd

Luke Young, Llywydd UCM Cymru:

"Wrth gwrs, mae'n siomedig gweld fod y graddau uchaf wedi disgyn yng Nghymru, ac mae hyn yn fater y bydd pobl yn holi cwestynau yn ei gylch, ond ni ddylai hyn leihau'r hyn a gyflawnwyd gan yr holl fyfyrwyr sy'n dathlu eu llwyddiant heddiw.

Mae'n bwysig cofio fod mwy o bobl yng Nghymru wedi ennill Lefel-A eleni o gymharu â llynedd.

'Roedd yno hefyd gynnydd amlwg yn y nifer o fyfyrwyr a lwyddodd i gael gradd A yn eu Bagloriaeth Cymreig"

Five ideas: communicating your impact

The student movement exists to improve the lives of students and recognises the impact that learning and development have on wider society. In order to achieve this we need to challenge and change issues that threaten the ability of students to succeed in further and higher education. However, to influence change we need to mobilise students and other supporters.
