Regional workshops
The NUS Crime Team have just finished delivering a series of regional workshops. These day long events were designed to give students’ unions and local Police officers the opportunity to spend time action planning the future of student safety and security at their Higher Education Institution's (HEI)
Spending cuts
With the backdrop of Home Office spending cuts and the possibility that many HEI’s will start to outsource or prioritise their security provision, the workshops offered a unique opportunity to action plan for difficult times ahead.
The workshops included a range of presentations on crime reduction and safety initiatives run across the UK and aimed to outline and compare what goes on where in different institutions’ through different partnership arrangements.
Strategies for safety
Police and SUs also had the opportunity to develop strategies for safety campaigns in the future and identify what would be the key issues for their students in years to come.
If you missed the workshops but don’t want to miss out, feel free to download the presentations and have a go at some of the tasks. You may find the exercises most useful if you include your local police offer and a member of university security.
