Get a Sneak Peek of the Olympic Stadium

In case you missed the first article, you can read the introduction to Universities Week here.

BUCS Visa Outdoor Athletics Championships

Fancy getting a sneak peek of the Olympic stadium before the big event this summer?

As part of Universities Week 2012 (30 April – 7 May) students will be battling it out at the British Universities and Colleges Sport BUCS Visa Outdoor Athletics Championships on Saturday 5th May at the Olympic Stadium. As one of the London Prepares test event series, it will be a great opportunity to check out our Olympic venues before anyone else, as well as help cheer on your fellow students,

Whether your student union has a team or not, we’d like to fill the stadium with as many students as possible, so get the date in your diary, spread the word and think about organising a mass trip down to London.

Details on how to buy tickets will be released soon on Universities Week website and in the NUS update in a months time.

Become the Commentator

Universities Week’s competition this year will see one lucky student win the chance to commentate at the BUCS Visa Outdoor Athletics Championships at the Olympic stadium.

The winner will commentate live to the thousands of spectators and receive mentoring from two of Britain’s best known sports broadcasters, John Inverdale and Paul Dickenson.

To enter the competition, students need to film themselves commentating at a live sport event, or over the top of any televised sporting event of their choice. All entries must be no longer than one minute and entries should be made via YouTube, details of where to upload your entry will be available on the Universities Week website very soon.

A panel of judges from BUCS, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG), Universities UK and other partner organisations for Universities Week will shortlist the videos, with the final winners chosen by John Inverdale and Paul Dickenson.

Winners will be notified by the end of March and must be 18 or over to enter so get working on your entries now!
