The academic year 2010/11 has been a truly remarkable one for the student movement. It is the people and students’ unions within our movement which make it what it is and deliver time and time again for students.
This guide recognises just some of the inspiring individuals and unions who have been working tirelessly across the student movement. I hope that you will find the ideas generated across the year and showcased in this guide both useful and thought provoking.
NUS is not just about the people who sit in an office in London, its about the thousands of students, officers and staff around the UK – they are the ones who make the movement what it is – this is demonstrated throughout.
With over 390 nominations, we were unable to fit in every single detail of every single entrant. Instead, I hope this guide provides the spark of a great idea for your union. Of course if you see something and would like to learn more about get in touch with the union or individual in question.
I would like to thank everyone who entered NUS Awards 2011. Your contributions are what has enabled us to publish this guide. I hope you find some useful ideas in here. I know I have.

NUS President
