The GSA: The Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) represents, and seeks to provide support to all postgraduate students at the University of York, who make up around 24% of the student population. Services offered by the GSA include representation on various university committees, welfare support, academic advice and support, services (access to subsidised photocopying, scanning, fax machine), and a comprehensive events and free sports programme aimed specifically for Postgraduate students.  The GSA is an independent body wholly funded by the University of York.

 

Purpose: The role of RAW Coordinator is of integral to the GSA. It is instrumental in ensuring that postgraduate students are adequately supported and have access to representation. You will be responsible for advising students in individual academic and welfare cases as well as supporting elected representatives.

 

Hours of Work: Full time, minimum 35 hours per week.  This will usually be worked from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday, though some duties will require flexibility. Due to the nature of the role, working hours may exceed this total as business needs fluctuate. The post may involve evening and weekend work. This is considered part of the contract and reflected in the grading for the post.

 

Place of Work: The Graduate Students’ Association, 201 Wentworth College, The University of York, Heslington, York, YO10 5NG. The post may require some minimal travel within the UK.

 

Benefits : 30 Days per year holiday & All Public Holidays. Pension available.

Duration of Post: Permanent, subject to a satisfactory probation period
