Liverpool Hope Students' Union is pioneering a new breed of Small Students' Unions that is winning for their students not despite but because of our size. We are looking for a Manager with the leadership, knowledge and vision to help mould and form a Union in the early stages of its strategic vision that is challenging received wisdom about how things are done in our sector. This has been recognised by the National Union of Students who awarded us the Small and Specialist Union of the Year 2012.

As our Union Development Manager, you would be responsible to the Trustee Board and manage our staff team. The purpose of your role would be to ensure the effective and efficient management of the Union.

The duties and responsibilities can be broken down into several key areas - full details can be found in the Applicant Information Pack on our website:

Member Focus: ensuring the Union is relevant and accessible to all our members and is impacting on their lives while evidencing this to the trustees and the University.

Governance: ensuring the Union's governance is fit for purpose and that we comply with our constitution at all times. Aiding the trustee board to make robust decisions and govern effectively.

Strategic Planning: support the trustees to shape and review the strategic vision of the Union, set measurable KPIs and ensure they are met.

Financial Sustainability: produce annual, viable budgets for the trustees ensuring the Union meets best practice for voluntary sector organisations through financial planning, monitoring and reporting.

People Management: oversee strong HR practice both for staff and volunteers, ensuring all are aware of and focussed upon their priorities through training and line management.

Organisational Skills: ensure all services provided by the Union are fit for purpose and effectively monitored and that time management and planning are efficient accross the Union.

Stakeholder Management: ensure key stakeholders are identified and relationships with them are managed pro-actively and appropriately to ensure the best outcomes for the Union while acting always as an ambassador for the Union.

The person specification can be found in the Applicant Information Pack.

Our Union is winning and achieving in so many areas but we could be doing much more. The brand new position of Union Development Manager is part of a strategic vision to realise the potential of every student at Liverpool Hope. To ensure the best student experience. To inspire success and positive change.
