Trade Conference and Exhibition 2011 includes the only trade show in the UK that is dedicated to the student market, taking place from 10am on Tuesday 28 June 2011.

This much anticipated and long-standing trade show featured over 180 suppliers, both existing and new, giving you the opportunity to order some fantastic ‘on-the-day’ deals.

NUS Connect has developed a new way of ordering promotions for licensed trade.

This session showed the online system in operation, discussed its use for your outlet and discussed suggestions for future developments.

Local Beer Matters
Nick Stafford, 
Commercial and Finance Director, SIBA

The Society of Independent Brewers represents over 460 brewers in the UK, working with other trade organisations on behalf of the industry.

SIBA's main commercial activity is the highly successful Direct Delivery Scheme (DDS), which enables local brewers to sell their beers to national organisations.

In this session, Nick Stafford, Commercial Director of SIBA, explained why cask ale - particularly locally brewed cask ale - is bucking current market trends and how your bar could benefit from its success.

National Operational Focus Group

An area operational focus group with a difference. This session provided a platform to collaborate with other unions from around the country to hear about developments in licensed trade, your outlets, and how to improve your offering.

 Planograms and the consumer behaviour science behind them
Aidan Ingham

This session highlighted the main benefits of implementing planograms and the consumer behaviour science that forms the basis on which they are created.

This session identified 'hot spots' within the display, and shares some best practice suggestions for creating impulse purchases.

International foods
Sandy Lathia, Asiana Limited

International students make up approximately 15% of our student market and many of which would like to be able to buy a range of products that their familiar with from their union store. 

During this session, Asiana Foods talked you through the wide range of products available via Central Billing, explaining the types of products your overseas students will be looking for, which range to buy and how to display and promote the products in-store.

This Session discussed retail offering at this area operational focus group with a difference.

All staff from around the country came together to hear about developments in retail, talk about your retail offering and how to improve your offering by learning from each other.

Catering Focus Group

This elongated session was the second Catering Focus Group of the year, and concentrated on the hot topic of ‘breakfast’. 

It looked at the products and support available from suppliers as well as discussing the potential behind offering breakfast within your union. The Catering Focus Group is ideal for anyone involved in your union's catering service.
