Student Media Summit 2016

Now in its ninth year, our annual Student Media Summit will be hosted at the Human Rights Action Centre, headquarters of Amnesty International UK.

The Student Media Summit, run in partnership with Amnesty International UK, is the premier gathering for students aspiring to careers within the media and is designed to help attendees to build and improve their skills, prepare for their next step into journalism, and offer some excellent networking opportunities with professionals from across the industry.

The event has a focus on reporting big issues that matter most to NUS and Amnesty, such as human rights abuses and struggles for political freedom, access to education and the vital role education plays within a society.

With the chance to meet high level professionals involved in every journalistic discipline including comment, investigative, ethical, entertainment, political and foreign reporting, the Student Media Summit is an opportunity not to be missed.

Across the two days, we will also be holding sessions on television and radio, sub-editing and design, photography, sourcing ethical advertising revenue, and managing a student newsroom.

Who’ll be at Student Media Summit 2016?

We’re pleased to announce that the first wave of speakers for this year’s Summit include Hannah Strange (Telegraph)' Michael Crick (Channel 4 News), Lucy Seigle (BBC), Alan White (Buzzfeed), David Marsh (Guardian) and Felicity Morse (The i Paper).

Our full programme, including key note speakers, will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Attendance is free (with a £5 registration charge to cover admin costs), but given capacity is limited, you will need to register to be able to attend.

Food and drink will be provided over the two days. Accomodation is not provided but we recomend options nearby the venue such as The Dictionary Hostel.
