Train the Trainer

This accredited course is made up of two units of work: ‘Essentials of Group Work’ and ‘Training Skills for New Trainers’, giving delegates the opportunity to achieve six credits at level two through the Open College Network (OCN).

By the end of the course delegates will:

• Identify the purpose and function of group work
• Describe roles people play in groups
• Consider strategies for managing group dynamics
• Explain a range of learning styles
• Demonstrate the role of the experiential learning cycle
• Identify how to plan and deliver group work
• Plan a training session
• Explain the use of different training techniques
• Deliver a short training session
• Reflect and evaluate own practice
• Describe the importance of evaluation within group work
• Describe the benefits of different evaluation methods
• Produce a training evaluation form
