Strategic Support Unit Resource Hub

Education and representation

 

Education issues are at the heart of students' unions. The maze of knowledge needed by officers to succeed in their roles will be explored during this brand new course. Hearing from experts in the sector, delegates will have the most up-to-date information, and be armed and ready to campaign on behalf of their members. There will be structured opportunities to work with peers building networks for the year ahead.
 
 
Who is it for:
  • Education officers of HE affiliated unions
  • Education and Welfare officers of HE affiliated unions
 
 
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course delegates will have:
  • Scruitinised the key historical factors which have shaped the current HE climate
  •  Defined the value of evidence based change
  •  Explored different types of research available to them
  •  Analysed a range of methods used to create change
  •  Attended knowledge specific workshops
  •  Debated current issues affecting students' lives
  •  Considered how to measure the impact of change
  •  Created a support network with other officers
  •  Examined the Higher Education sector and how to influence national policy
  •  Developed views on the future direction of Higher Education

 

NUS Training team

All trainers who deliver on this course have a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Higher Education sector and many years of experience of education policy and practice, as well as the student movement. Delegates who attend this course will be postively challenged by the trainers to be the best that they can be and prepare them for the unique responsibility and challenges they will face during the year ahead.
