
Leading active student involvement
Whether it be on the sports field or in the debating chamber – getting students actively involved in student led activities, is key to being a truly student focused organisation. This course will look at the officer portfolio of leading student activities, exploring themes of changing student demographics, democratic functions of student activities and campaigning for a better student experience. As well as exploring a range of topical issues, ideas and challenges for the year ahead.
During the course there will be an opportunity for delegates to attend a variety of interactive skill and knowledge flash session and workshops.

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, delegates will have:

An opportunity to review what they want to achieve during their year and consider the challenges they may face

Debate key issues in relation to fees and the student experience, and the role of employability

Understand their role in supporting, engaging and championing student volunteering in all its forms

Explore their role in leading student activities democracy

Discuss the engagement of minority groups in student activities

Understand their role in leading change campaigns to achieve a better student experience

Attend a range of interactive workshops and flash sessions delivered by key experts
Create a support network with other officers for the year ahead .
